Assisted connections
We are pleased to announce the launch of a new initiative which will substantially reduce the cost of gas connections for qualifying customers.
This initiative has the support of Ofgem and is designed to assist customers:
- in existing housing who live in areas that are considered to be among the most deprived in the country.
- Who qualify for energy efficiency measures under the CERT (Carbon Energy Reduction Target) programme.
- Who qualify for the UK or Scottish Governments' heat replacement schemes.
- Who can demonstrate they qualify as 'Fuel Poor'. This is where more than 10% of income is spent on heating homes to a satisfactory level.
The initiative applies equally to customers who already live within mains gas areas as well as those living in communities where currently mains gas is not available.
For those within mains gas areas we expect the majority of connections to be free of charge. In other cases qualifying connections may also be free or at least significantly reduced when customers submit our special “Assisted Connections Voucher” along with a connection request.
