Sundridge, Main Road

We will shortly be carrying out work on a £140,000 project to renew and reinforce the gas main network in Sundridge.
| Start date: | |
| Duration: | 12 weeks |
| Location: | Main Road, Sundridge |
| Description: |
This essential work involves replacing 500 metres of ageing metal gas mains and services in Main Road (A25) and Chevening Road with durable plastic (polyethylene) pipe. Our work will begin on 1 March and will take approximately 12 weeks to complete. To allow room for manoeuvre of heavy plant and equipment, and to ensure everyone’s safety, it will be necessary to close Main Road to motorists, from the junction with Chevening Road to outside The Lamb Inn. This closure will take effect on 1 March and will last approximately eight weeks. For light traffic, buses and heavy vehicles requiring access to premises within the immediate area of the closure, a diversion will be in place via Chevening Road and Surrenden Road to Morants Court and Dunton Green. A 7.5 tonne weight limit (except for access) will be applied to this diversion. Additionally, parking will be suspended in Chevening Road, from the junction with Main Road to the junction with Coombe Bank Drive. Heavy through traffic will be diverted via Westerham Hill, Biggin Hill, Farnborough, Pratts Bottom and Dunton Green. We will re-open Main Road to motorists upon completion of our work there, while work will continue in Chevening Road and Coombe Bank Drive. Our work has been planned in conjunction with the relevant local authorities and we will continue to work with them throughout the duration of this project to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum. |
