Work on a £47,000 project to replace old gas mains in Felbridge, West Sussex, will begin shortly.

We will be replacing 460 metres of ageing metal mains with durable plastic (polyethylene) pipe in Copthorne Road, from the junction with Crawley Down Road to the junction with Eastbourne Road. We will also be renewing 30 gas services. The main is being replaced by means of the insertion method, which means pushing the new pipe into the old main. This greatly reduces the amount of digging required, which in turn reduces disruption. The project will be completed in four phases - outlined below. Phase 1 Our work will begin at Copthorne Road's junction with Crawley Down Road. Three-way temporary traffic lights will be in operation during this phase. Phase 2 We will work along Copthorne Road towards its junction with London Road, with two-way temporary traffic lights in operation. Phase 3 We will make mains connections in Copthorne Road at its junction with London Road, including a road crossing at the Felbridge Court junction. Phase 4 We will renew the mains and services in Felbridge Court. No traffic management is required at this location. |
