We will shortly begin carrying out work on a £1.25 million project to renew the gas supply network in the Finchamstead area of Wokingham.
| Start date: | |
| Duration: | 25 weeks |
| Location: | Nine Mile Ride area, Wokingham |
| Description: |
This is essential work which forms part of our ongoing gas mains replacement programme, developed with the Health and Safety Executive, to replace ageing metal gas mains and services, with durable plastic (polyethylene) pipe. We will replace 8.2 kilometres of mains and services in the Nine Mile Ride area of Wokingham. This, we anticipate, will take 25 weeks. The following roads will be affected by our works: Lower Wokingham Road, Nine Mile Ride, Finchampstead Road, Barkham Ride, Windsor Ride, Foxcote, Birch Road, Summit Close, Wick Hill Lane, Woodside Close, Nash Grove Lane, Gorse Ride North, Drake Close, Woodside Close and Gorse Ride South. To allow room for manoeuvre of heavy plant and equipment, and to ensure everyone’s safety, it will be necessary for the majority of our work to be carried out under temporary traffic lights. We have been working closely with Wokingham Borough Council to plan this work in such a way as to keep disruption to residents and road users to a minimum. To this end, we will have up to five teams carrying out work on the project at the same time. Update: 10 June We have now replaced 3km of gas mains. We are currently working in Wokingham Road between Wellingtonia roundabout and Nine Mile Ride, where two-way temporary traffic lights are in operation. Where we are currently working in Barkham Ride between Finchampstead Road and Nashgrove Lane there are also currently traffic temporary lights in operation. These will become three-way at the junction with Nashgrove Lane around 28 June. |
