Our 'Getting Connected' guide has more information for domestic customers and we also have checklists for new connections, service alterations and disconnections to make sure you have all the information you need to complete your application.
To help you calculate the cost, you can get a quick cost estimate for single residential connections, service alterations or disconnections. We're unable to offer this to our business customers as there are too many variations in commercial jobs.
Before you use your new supply, you need to establish whether you have a gas supplier for your property. The Energy Networks Association (ENA) new supply leaflet tells you what you need to do.
It’s illegal for anyone to carry out any work on our network (including new connections and alterations) unless they’re suitably qualified under the Gas Industry Registration Scheme. A list of registered providers can be found on the Lloyds Register website. We’ll need to approve any third party's work in advance to make sure they
meet all our safety requirements. If
they go ahead without our approval,
we may have to cut off your gas and
bill you for any resulting repair work. You can find further details in this leaflet from the ENA.
Further information about your gas outlet pipework (the pipe that runs from the gas meter to feed any gas appliances, and is the responsibility of the homeowner).
Guide to safe excavations - for customers looking to dig their own trenches and restore the surface areas themselves after we've completed work.
