    Project update: Wednesday 5 July

Our work is continuing to progress well.

We are continuing to work in Blackfriars Street (phase 5). Until Friday 14 July, our work here will concentrate on connecting and testing our new gas main. We’ll then be reinstating the road surface. All continuing well, this will be completed by Sunday 30 July.

Phase 6 of the project, in the Cowgate, is now completed and the road reopen as usual.

Phase 7 of our project will start on Monday 10 July. We'll be working in Holyrood Road between the junctions with Viewcraig Gardens and St John Street.

Holyrood Road will be closed to traffic for the first three days of our work here. Local diversions will be in place.

On Thursday 13 July, Holyrood Road will reopen with temporary traffic lights in place between St John Street and Viewcraig Gardens.

Temporary traffic lights will be put in place on the evening of Thursday 13 July, for five days, at the Pleasance junction.

Holyrood Road will then be fully closed from Tuesday 18 July for up to six weeks, with diversions in place.

Phase 8 starts on Monday 17 July and is expected to be completed by Sunday 30 July. This will see us working once again in the High Street. The road will be open with priority boards in operation to control the flow of traffic.

On the north side of the High Street there will be parking restrictions in place.

We’ll return to the High Street in September to reinstate the cobbles/setts, after the Edinburgh Festival and Fringe have ended.
