We are working to upgrade the gas network in the Craigton Road area of Govan, Glasgow.
We are investing £616,000 to replace our old gas mains and services with new plastic pipe to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply to the local area.
We started the first phase of our project at the beginning of December, working in Craigton Road between Crossloan Road and Edmiston Drive.
In consultation with Glasgow City Council, we will continue onto our second phase of work on Monday 26 February 2018. For this phase, we’ll be working in Shieldhall Road between Craigton Road and Drumoyne Road, this includes Drumoyne Quadrant. To ensure everyone’s safety, we need to install temporary four-way lights in Shieldhall Road at its junction with Drumoyne Road for approximately eight weeks during this phase. We’ll be manually controlling our temporary lights at peak times to help keep the traffic flowing.
We’ll start the third and final phase of the project on Monday 5 March, while phase two is underway. During this third phase, we’ll be working in Crossloan Road between Craigton Road and the mini-roundabout where Langlands Road and Crossloan Road meet. We’ll then continue in Langlands Road up to its junction with Holmfauldhead Drive. This final phase will last approximately eight weeks.
Parking restrictions will be in place at different stages throughout the project, but access to driveways will be available at all times.
We understand that people can get frustrated by roadworks. However, the new plastic pipe has a minimum lifespan of 80 years. This means that when the work is complete, residents in Govan will continue to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable gas supply for years to come. We always aim to minimise disruption and we will make every effort to ensure our works are completed as soon as possible.
