We’re investing £408,000 to upgrade our gas network in the Hillhead area of Glasgow.
This essential work is part of a wider ongoing project and involves the replacement of old, metal gas mains with new plastic pipe to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply.
Following discussions with Glasgow City Council, the work will start on Monday 8 January 2018 and last approximately 15 weeks. Due to the location of our gas main and for the safety of our engineers and road users, we will need to suspend parking bays in Hillhead Street and Southpark Avenue. However, the roads will remain open at all times.
Our project has been split into different phases to minimise disruption. For further details on this project, and to find out exactly where we'll be working, take a look at our project leaflet.
We understand that people can get frustrated by roadworks. However, the new plastic pipe has a minimum lifespan of 80 years. This means that when the work is complete, residents in Hillhead will continue to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable gas supply for years to come. We always aim to minimise disruption and we will make every effort to ensure our works are completed as soon as possible.
