We will shortly be starting the final stage of our £74,000 project to upgrade the gas network in the Muir Street area of Hamilton.
This essential work involves the replacement of old, metal gas mains with new plastic pipe to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply.
Following discussions with South Lanarkshire Council, our project will start on Monday 8 January 2018 and last for seven weeks.
To ensure everyone’s safety, we will need to close Cadzow Street for approximately three weeks at the beginning of the project.
We've split this final stage of the project into two phases to minimise disruption as much as possible. Both phases are described below:
Phase one – approximately 3 weeks
On Monday 8 January 2018, we’ll start work in Cadzow Street. To ensure the safety of our engineers and road users, we will need to close the road near its junction with Muir Street. Access for residents will be maintained at all times, and a signed diversion route will be in place for motorists.
Phase two – approximately 4 weeks
On Monday 29 January 2018, we’ll be working in Muir Street between its junction with Lower Auchingramont Road and the nearby Lidl supermarket. To allow our engineers to work safely we’ll need to restrict the westbound carriageway to one lane.
We’ll be working extended hours and at weekends to complete our work as quickly as possible. We are mindful of those people who live in the area and will try to minimise noisy activities where possible.
