We will shortly be starting the final phase of our £277,000 project to upgrade the gas network in the Torbothie Road area of Shotts. This essential work involves the replacement of old, metal gas mains with new plastic pipe to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply. To ensure everyone’s safety, the use of temporary traffic lights will be necessary at various stages. Following discussions with North Lanarkshire Council, our project will start on Monday 8 January 2018 and last for three months. We've split the project into three phases to minimise disruption as much as possible. All three phases are described below: Phase one – approximately 5 weeksOn Monday 8 January 2018, we’ll start work in Station Road, just south of the roundabout. There will be temporary two-way traffic lights around our work area while we work. Our work will progress southward towards Station Road’s junction with Main Street. Phase two – approximately 3 weeksOn Monday 12 February 2018, we’ll be working at the junction of Station Road and Main Street. Temporary three-way lights will be in place at the junction to ensure the safety of road users and our engineers. Phase three – approximately 5 weeksThe final phase of work will begin on Monday 5 March 2018 in Main Street. There will be temporary two-way traffic lights around our work area while we work. Our work will progress eastward from Main Street’s junction with Station Road towards Torbothie Road.
