We are investing £15,000 to upgrade the gas network in Upper Chantry Lane, Canterbury.
In consultation with Kent County Council, we will start work on Monday 5 February.
To ensure everyone’s safety around our work area, Upper Chantry Lane will become one-way northbound from Dover Street to the New Dover Road/St George’s Place junction. There will be no access to Upper Chantry Lane from New Dover Road (A2050), St George’s Place and Lower Chantry Road (A257). A signed diversion will be in place for motorists via St George’s Place, Upper Bridge Street and Old Dover Road, as well as New Dover Road, St Lawrence Road and Old Dover Road. We’ll maintain access to Canterbury Christ Church University and the private car parks in the closed section of Upper Chantry Lane via the Oaten Hill end of Upper Chantry Lane at all times.
Traffic will still be able to travel northwards along Upper Chantry Lane and exit Upper Chantry Lane onto the New Dover Road/St George’s Place/Lower Chantry Road junction.
We understand that people can get frustrated by roadworks. However, once the work is complete, Canterbury homes and businesses will continue to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable gas supply for years to come.
