We are investing £360,000 to upgrade our gas network in the Burford Road area of Chipping Norton.
This essential work is part of an ongoing project in the area and involves installing new pipework and a new regulator to meet an increased gas demand in the area.
In consultation with Oxfordshire County Council, the work will start on Wednesday 7 March and last for approximately ten weeks. We've split the project into two phases to minimise disruption as much as possible:
Phase one – approximately two weeks: During phase one, Burford Road will be closed between its junctions with Albion Street and Walterbush Road to ensure the safety of road users and our engineers.
Phase two – approximately eight weeks:During phase two, Burford Road will be closed between its junctions with Walterbush Road and Charlbury Road to ensure everyone’s safety. School buses approaching Chipping Norton School from Charlbury Road’s junction with Burford Road will be given access at the beginning and end of the school day.
Throughout the entire project, The Green will be closed to through traffic. However, we’ll help ensure that local access is maintained at all times for residents. We’ll also help ensure access for school traffic and school buses travelling to and from Chipping Norton School.
There will be a significant signed diversion in place for motorists and HGVs via West Street, A44, A436, A429, A424 and A361.
We understand that roadworks can be frustrating. However, the new plastic pipe has a minimum lifespan of 80 years. This means that when the work is complete, Chipping Norton residents will continue to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable gas supply for years to come.
