    Kingsdown area

    Start date: 26 February 2018
    Approximate duration: 30 weeks

We are working to upgrade the gas network in the Kingsdown area of Deal.

We are investing £402,000 to replace our old gas mains and services with new plastic pipe to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply to the local area.

In consultation with Kent County Council, we will start work on Monday 26 February. Over 30 weeks, our engineers will progress through Upper Street, The Avenue, Alexandra Avenue and The Rise in three phases.

To ensure everyone’s safety, we need to implement temporary road closures, temporary traffic lights and suspend some on-street parking at times. Full details can be found in our project leaflet.

We will return later in the year to work in Kings Close, St Monicas Road, South Road, Wellington Parade and Jarvist Place. We’ll be in touch with residents nearer the time about these works.

We understand that people can get frustrated by roadworks. However, the new plastic pipe has a minimum lifespan of 80 years. This means that when the work is complete, people will continue to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable gas supply for years to come.

    Update: 22 May 2018

In consultation with Kent County Council, Upper Street will reopen for one week from Tuesday 29 May.

At the same time, we will need to close The Rise for one week between its junctions with Alexandra Road, Glen Road and St James Road while we work in the road alongside other utility companies. To ensure everyone’s safety, a signed diversion will be in place for motorists.
