We are working to upgrade the gas network in the Broad Lane area of Hampton.
We are investing £187,000 to replace our old gas mains and services with new plastic pipe to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply to the local area.
In consultation with Richmond Council, we will start work on Tuesday 2 January. Over nine months, our engineers will progress through Cleveland Avenue, Broad Lane and Marlingdene Close in five phases.
To ensure everyone’s safety, we need to implement a temporary road closure, temporary traffic lights and suspend some on-street parking at times. Full details can be found in our project leaflet.
We understand that people can get frustrated by roadworks. However, the new plastic pipe has a minimum lifespan of 80 years. This means that when the work is complete, people will continue to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable gas supply for years to come.
Update: 9 February 2018
Our work has progressed well and we are now ahead of schedule. From Tuesday 13 February, we will begin working at the junction of Cleveland Avenue and Broad Lane. We will then progress on to phase two of the project and will begin working in Broad Lane. We’ll have temporary traffic lights in place between Cleveland Avenue and Percy Road during this phase to ensure everyone’s safety and maintain traffic flow.
