We are working to upgrade the gas supply network in School Lane, Higham.
We are investing £318,000 to replace our old gas mains and services with new plastic pipe to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply to the local area.
In consultation with Kent County Council, we will start this work on Monday 24 July.
To ensure everyone’s safety, we need to temporarily close a section of School Lane for approximately six weeks. The road will be closed between Forge Lane and 64 School Lane. Signed diversions will be in place for through traffic.
We've planned to carry out this work during the school summer holiday, when the roads are traditionally quieter, to minimise disruption to the local community.
We understand that people can get frustrated by roadworks. However, the new plastic pipe has a minimum lifespan of 80 years. This means that when the work is complete, people will continue to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable gas supply for years to come.
