We are working to upgrade the gas network in the Everest Drive area of Hoo.
We are investing £163,000 to replace our old gas mains and services with new plastic pipe to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply to the local area.
In consultation with Medway Council, we will start work on Monday 8 January.
During our 14-week project, we’ll be progressing through White House Close, Everest Drive, Armytage Close, Church Street, Brookside and a small section of Main Road. We may need to restrict some on-street parking around our work area in these roads to give us space to safely manoeuvre our equipment.
As part of this project, we’ll be upgrading a section of our gas main in Church Road between Main Road and Vicarage Road. We may need to install temporary traffic lights in Church Road at these junctions to keep everyone safe around our site. However, we’ll have advance warning signs in place in Church Road with more details before we start this phase.
We understand that people can get frustrated by roadworks. However, the new plastic pipe has a minimum lifespan of 80 years. This means that when the work is complete, Hoo residents will continue to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable gas supply for years to come.
