We are working to upgrade the gas network in South Park Road in Maidstone.
We will be replacing our old gas mains and services with new plastic pipe to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply to the local area.
In consultation with Kent County Council, we will start work in South Park Road on Monday 12 February. To ensure everyone’s safety while we’re working, we need to close South Park Road near the cycle track which connects South Park Road to Plains Avenue. Motorists will still be able to travel in both directions on the main section of South Park Road.
We also need to close the cycle track from South Park Road to Plains avenue on Monday 12 February for one week. This will coincide with the school half-term holiday to help minimise inconvenience.
Parking restrictions will be in place, this will include access to driveways. We’ll notify residents individually if they are affected by this. Please also note that access to the Park Way Primary School car park will only be available via the front entrance.
We understand that people can get frustrated by roadworks. However, the new plastic pipe has a minimum lifespan of 80 years. This means that when the work is complete, Maidstone residents will continue to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable gas supply for years to come.
