• Morden
    Bishopsford Road

    Start date: 12 February 2018
    Approximate duration: Three months

We are working to upgrade the gas network in the Bishopsford Road area of Morden.

We are investing £516,000 to replace our old gas mains and services with new plastic pipe to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply to the local area.

In consultation with Merton Council, we will start work on Monday 12 February 2018.

To ensure everyone’s safety and maintain traffic flow, we will be making Bishopsford Road one-way, southbound between Mitcham and Rose Hill. A signed diversion will be in place for northbound traffic via St Helier Avenue and Morden Road.

As agreed with the local authority, we’ll be working we’ll be working Monday to Friday between 8am and 6pm and on Saturdays between 8am and 1pm. We are mindful of people who live in the area and will try to minimise noisy activities where possible.

We understand that people can get frustrated by roadworks. However, the new plastic pipe has a minimum lifespan of 80 years. This means that when the work is complete, people will continue to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable gas supply for years to come.

    Update – 1 May 2018

Our work is progressing well and we have now completed our upgrade on Bishopsford Road/London Road between Rose Hill and the junctions with Pollard Road and Hillfield Avenue.

In consultation with Merton Council and Sutton Council, we will now be working in London Road from its junctions with Pollard Road and Hillfield Avenue to the bridge over River Wandle. We expect to complete our work by Sunday 10 June.

To ensure everyone’s safety and maintain traffic flow, Bishopsford Road will remain one-way, southbound between Mitcham and Rose Hill. A signed diversion will be in place for northbound traffic via St Helier Avenue and Morden Road. We will be working extended hours to complete our work as safely and quickly as possible.
