We are working to upgrade the gas network in Oare, near Faversham.
We are investing £128,000 to replace our old gas mains and services with new plastic pipe to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply to the local area.
In consultation with Kent County Council, we will be working in The Street in three phases from Monday 8 January.
Phase one: We’ll start work in The Street on Monday 8 January. We’ll need to close a section of the road around our work area to keep everyone safe. The Street will be closed at its junction with Church Road for approximately one week. A signed diversion will be in place for through traffic via Bysing Wood Road. Access to the Three Mariners and The Castle Inn will be maintained via the Oare Road end of The Street.
Phase two: From Monday 15 January, our engineers will progress southwards along the The Street from its junction with Western Link towards Seagar Road. We’ll have temporary two-way traffic lights in place around our work area.
Phase three: We’ll start our final phase in The Street on Monday 5 March. Our engineers will be working outside number 17 and also in the lower end of Colegates Close. During this phase, we’ll need to restrict some parking around our work area.
We understand that people can get frustrated by roadworks. However, the new plastic pipe has a minimum lifespan of 80 years. This means that when the work is complete, people will continue to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable gas supply for years to come.
