We will shortly be starting essential work to upgrade our gas network in the Parkstone Road and Fernside Road/Longfleet Road area of Poole.
This essential work involves the replacement of old, metal gas mains with new plastic pipe to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply.
So that we can reduce disruption from our projects, we have carefully consulted and planned them in partnership with Poole Borough Council.
Work will start in Parkstone Road on Monday 6 February for approximately five weeks. From Monday 10 April, Fernside Road will be closed in stages during an 10-week programme to enable upgrade work. Our project will then move to Longfleet Road, where work will run from 12 June until Monday 28 August. Other work will also run concurrently in adjacent roads at both locations, however the impact on motorists will be minimal. This may be subject to change due to any unforeseen circumstances.
More information is available in our customer leaflet.
All businesses in the local area will remain open as usual. We do have a compensation scheme in place for local businesses which suffer a genuine loss of trade because of our work. Packs are available from the Publications section on our website.
Update: 17 July 2017
Our engineers have made excellent progress and we’ve now completed the Parkstone Road and Fernside Road phases of this project.
We are now working to upgrade our gas network along Longfleet Road. We are currently working outside Poole Hospital with temporary traffic lights in place around our work area. We’re manually controlling these lights between 7.30am and 6.30pm to help traffic flow along Longfleet Road.
To ensure everyone’s safety, we’ve also needed to temporarily close both the bus stop opposite the hospital (by Kingston Road) as well as the taxi rank.
All being well, this section of our project outside the hospital will be finished by the end of July and we’ll then progress down Longfleet Road towards Commercial Road.
