    London Road area

Start date: Monday 24 April 2017
    Approximate duration: 21 weeks

We’re investing £887,000 to upgrade our gas network in the Kendrick Road and London Road area of Reading.

This essential work involves the replacement of old, metal gas mains with new plastic pipe to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply.

Following discussions with Reading Borough Council, our project will start on Monday 24 April 2017.

    Project update: 17 January 2018

We are undertaking work in Eldon Road, which will be closed to traffic from London Road only. This makes it a one-way street from King’s Road.

A diversion route will be in place via London Road, Sidmouth Street, Queen’s Road and King’s Road.

The latest work is scheduled for four to six weeks.

The traffic management arrangements have been agreed with the local authority as the least disruptive to motorists.

We appreciate that roadworks can be frustrating, however the new plastic pipe has a minimum lifespan of 80 years. This means once the work has been completed, local homes and businesses will enjoy the benefits of a continued safe and reliable gas supply for many years to come.
