    Upper Road

    Start date: 5 February 2018
    Approximate duration: Ten weeks

    Update: Thursday 24 May

Our work to upgrade the gas network in Upper Road, Wallington is progressing well.

However, the complexity of this engineering project and our aim to ensure continued access for residents has meant that this project has progressed slower than planned.

Our engineers are working 7.30am-3.30pm Monday to Friday and 8am-2pm on Saturdays where necessary to complete our work as quickly and safely as possible and minimise disruption.

All being well, we expect to complete our project in Upper Road and remove our storage compound located in Sandy Lane North by the end of July.

We are working to upgrade the gas network in Upper Road, Wallington.

We are investing £45,000 to replace our old gas mains and services with new plastic pipe to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply to the local area.

In consultation with Sutton Borough Council, we will start work on Monday 5 February.

Due to the location of our gas main and the width of Upper Road, vehicle access will be restricted during working hours. Wherever possible, all excavations will be covered to allow continual use of the road. Please be aware that there may be delays in entering and exiting the road whilst we are working.

We understand that people can get frustrated by roadworks. However, the new plastic pipe has a minimum lifespan of 80 years. This means that when the work is complete, people will continue to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable gas supply for years to come.
