Glasgow, King's Park and Rutherglen areas

We’re upgrading our gas network in the King’s Park and Rutherglen areas of Glasgow.

This essential work needs to go ahead now to ensure your local community continues to receive a safe and reliable gas supply.

In agreement with Glasgow City Council and South Lanarkshire Council, our project started on Monday 9 May. The work will be carried out in four stages. The first two stages are detailed below. The details for stages three and four will be added to this page when they become available.

Stage one - approximately 17 weeks

  • Kingsbridge Drive will be closed between Menock Road and King’s Park Avenue (COMPLETE)
  • We’ll be working in King’s Park Avenue between numbers 354 and 468 for eight weeks.
  • Kingsheath Avenue will be closed between its junctions with King’s Park Avenue and Bankhead Road for five weeks.
  • Bankhead Road will be closed between its junctions with King’s Park Avenue and Kingsheath Avenue for two weeks.
  • Kingsheath Avenue will be closed between its junction with Bankhead Road to outside number 12 Kingsheath Avenue for five weeks.

Stage two – approximately 16 weeks

  • Bankhead Road will be closed between its junctions with Kingsbridge Drive and Kilmorlie Drive for two weeks.
  • St Blanes Drive will be closed between its junctions with Kingsbridge Drive and Kilmorlie Drive for three weeks.
  • Kingsacre Road will be closed between its junctions with Castlemilk Road and Kilmorlie Drive for 10 weeks.
  • Montford Avenue will be closed between its junctions with Castlemilk Road and Curtis Avenue for 10 weeks.

We may also need to put in place other restrictions in footpaths or on roads, including footpath closures and the use temporary traffic lights were required.

We know these are busy roads and that roadworks can be disruptive, so would like to thank local residents and motorists for your understanding while we complete this essential work.
