Maidstone, A26 Tonbridge Road

Start date: 23 July 2019

Approximate duration: Six weeks

We are working to upgrade the gas network in the A26 Tonbridge Road, Maidstone.

We are investing to replace our old gas mains and services with new plastic pipe to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply to the local area.

In consultation with Kent County Council, we are planning to start work on Tuesday 23 July.

To ensure everyone’s safety, we’re planning to temporarily close the A26 Tonbridge Road between its junctions with Stanford Drive and Oakwood Road. A signed diversion will be in place for motorists via the A20 London Road and Queens Road.

We’re also planning to upgrade the gas network in the A228 Malling Road, Mereworth – full details can be found below.

We understand that people can get frustrated by roadworks. However, the new plastic pipe has a minimum lifespan of 80 years. This means that when the work is complete, people will continue to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable gas supply for years to come.

Update - 1 July 2019

We'll need to temporarily close the A26 Tonbridge Road in two phases:

Phase one - between its junctions with Stanford Drive and Hartnup Street

Phase two - between its junctions with Hartnup Street and Oakwood Road

Access will be maintained for residents.
