Project update: 17 November

Our project to upgrade the gas network in the A7 between Selkirk and Galashiels is now complete.

Specialist teams are on site reinstating some of our work area, but the road is now fully re-opened.

We'd like to thank the local communities and A7 commuters for their continued patience and understanding as we carried out this critical work to ensure safe and reliable gas supplies to homes and businesses.

We’ll shortly begin work to upgrade our gas network on the A7, between Selkirk and Galashiels.

Our project will begin on Monday 10 July and take approximately 16 weeks to complete.

We’re carrying out this work now as a permanent solution to the recent emergency work we carried out in the A7 last year, reducing the risk of future disruption to the local community and motorists.

We know this is a busy route so we’ve planned our work in close consultation with BEAR Scotland and Transport Scotland. By carrying out our work in the summer months, we can work extended hours and weekends where possible.

Our work will be completed over three phases, shown in the map below:

For the duration of our work, temporary traffic lights will be in place along with a speed restriction to ensure everyone’s safety around our work area.

During the weekends that we’re not working, our temporary traffic lights will be removed to reduce inconvenience for motorists.
