Christchurch, Walkford Road

From Monday 20 November to Friday 22 December, our contractors JDT will be carrying out urgent work to replace the gas main along Walkford Road in Christchurch.

Due to multiple leaks, we will be replacing old metal pipes with new plastic pipes on Walkford Road between its junctions with Ringwood Road and Chewton Farm Road.

This work is urgent as we’re unable to continue to repair the leaks on this gas main and replacing the pipes is the only option.

For everyone's safety and due to the location of the gas main in the road, temporary road closures will be required. A signed diversion will be in place via Gore Road – Stem Lane – B35055 – A35 – Ringwood Road.

Vehicle access to properties within the road closure for residents and emergency services will be maintained. Our site team and local signs will keep residents informed of specific access arrangements.

Chewton Farm Road will be closed at its junction with Walkford Road for the duration of the work - there will be no vehicle access in or out of Chewton Farm Road from Walkford Road.

The Walkford pub and local businesses will remain open as usual.

Bus routes will be affected – we advise passengers to speak to their service provider for the latest changes to bus routes, stops and timetables.

To help minimise traffic disruption, we've planned our work in the following phases, with each closure taking place once the previous closure has been completed:

Phase 1

Walkford Road closed from its junction with Wyndham Road to its junction with Holly Lane.

Phase 2

Walkford Road closed from its junction with Ringwood Road to its junction with Hurst Close.

Phase 3

Walkford Road from its junction with Hurst Close to its junction with Chewton Farm Road.

We’re sorry for the inconvenience our work may cause and thank you for your patience and understanding.
