We're carrying out essential gas network upgrades in the B2237 Worthing Road area. This work will ensure a continued safe and reliable supply of gas is delivered to nearby homes and businesses.

What we're doing
We're replacing our old metal pipes in phases along B2237 Worthing Road. This is part of our 30-year programme of work to replace our old mains, reaching the end of their useful lives, with new, reliable plastic pipe.
When we're working
Our work started on Monday 19 February and is expected to last approximately 13 weeks. We're working extended hours to help minimise the length of disruption caused by our essential project.
Our work in B2237 Worthing Road
Our engineers began upgrading our gas network along Worthing Road at the junction of Blackbridge Lane in mid-February.
We've installed approximately 50m of new plastic pipe and we're continuing to make connections to the existing pipework. Some of these connections have been complex and we've needed to keep Blackbridge Lane closed for longer than originally anticipated. All being well, we'll be able to safely reopen this road by the middle of next week (w/c Monday 11 March).
While this work has taken longer than planned, we still expect to finish our project on schedule with the estimated duration.
To ensure everyone's safety, Worthing Road remains closed to motorists and signed diversions are in place. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses.
All our work is agreed in close consultation with West Sussex County Council and key stakeholders.
We understand roadworks can be frustrating. However, the new plastic pipe has a lifespan of 80 years. This means that once our work is done, Horsham residents and businesses will be able to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable supply of gas for many years to come.
