Dundee Carers Centre
Why we’re working together
According to the Carers Trust, there are more than 800,000 unpaid carers across Scotland. Nearly half (48%) of unpaid Scottish carers have been forced to cut back on essentials, such as food and heating, to make ends meet.
Dundee is home to an estimated 17,000 unpaid carers, despite being the geographically smallest local authority in Scotland. Within this compact area, around one third of neighbourhoods fall within the 20% most deprived areas nationally.
Dundee Carers Centre aims to improve the lives of unpaid carers and disabled people by giving help, advice, and access to learning.
We’re delighted to partner with the organisation on an energy safeguarding and fuel poverty prevention programme to support unpaid carers across Dundee.
This programme is part of our regional Scotland Carers Group, which brings together local partners to support carers across Scotland. You can find more information about our other local Energy Support for Carers programmes on our ‘supporting vulnerable households’ page.
