Glasgow South Carers Centre
Why we’re working together
Scotland is home to more than 800,000 unpaid carers, according to the Carers Trust. Three out of every five people will become carers at some point in their lives.
Nearly half (48%) of unpaid carers in Scotland have been forced to cut back on essentials, such as food and heating, to make ends meet. Among parent carers, that rose to 62% in 2025.
In Glasgow, these challenges are further compounded by significant system change and sustained reductions within carer services over the past two years.
Glasgow South Carers Centre works to make a positive and lasting difference to the lives of carers and disabled people across the south of Glasgow.
Together, we’re delivering an energy safeguarding and fuel poverty prevention programme to support unpaid carers in Glasgow South.
This programme is part of our regional Scotland Carers Group, which brings together local partners to support carers across Scotland. You can find more information about our other local Energy Support for Carers programmes on our ‘supporting vulnerable households’ page.
