Safe and Warm Advice Service

Why we’re working together

According to the Scottish Government, one in three Scottish households is in fuel poverty. Even before the cost-of-living crisis, many families were finding their energy bills unaffordable.

Citizens Advice Scotland is the leading advice charity in Scotland, providing confidential and impartial advice to everyone who needs it.

We’ve partnered with Citizens Advice Scotland on a number of energy advice projects since 2021. In April 2026, we launched a new programme to provide vulnerable Scottish households with tailored and comprehensive energy advice and income maximisation support.

Through the Safe and Warm Advice Service, we’ll help households experiencing fuel poverty, financial hardship and energy efficiency challenges. Together, we’ll help more than 6,000 households at bureaux in Scotland’s most deprived areas as well as NHS hospitals.

What we’re achieving together

  • Providing personalised energy efficiency and safeguarding advice to vulnerable households
  • Helping maximise household income through benefit entitlement checks and debt advice
  • Providing immediate financial support to households in energy crisis
  • Supporting eligible households to join the Priority Services Register
  • Educating households and frontline workers on carbon monoxide safety
