Disability Energy Support

Why we’re working together

Life costs an extra £1,095 a month if you’re disabled, according to 2025 research from Scope.

With the extra costs of heating, equipment and therapies, disabled people are more likely to face financial vulnerability, increased energy costs and fuel poverty. Disabled people also often find it more challenging to access information and support to manage these issues.

We’ve partnered with Scope since 2020 to deliver tailored and targeted support through our Disability Energy Support (DES) with water advice service.

We’re proud to continue leading a nationwide partnership between Scope and Britain’s gas networks to provide a dedicated energy advice service for disabled people across England, Scotland and Wales. Together, we’re helping disabled people to confidently use energy safely, efficiently and affordably.

What we’re achieving together

  • Providing personalised energy safeguarding support for disabled households
  • Empowering households to confidently manage energy-related issues
  • Maximising household incomes through income and benefits checks
  • Promoting the Priority Services Register and helping disabled people to join the free service
  • Educating disabled households on carbon monoxide safety
