Glasgow, Union Street and Gordon Street

We’ll shortly begin work in Union Street and Gordon Street, Glasgow, to reconnect a business to our gas network following the major fire at Union Corner earlier this year.

This essential project will help support businesses affected by the fire as they return to normal operations. We'll be carrying out the work in partnership with Network Rail and in close consultation with Glasgow City Council.

The project is due to begin on Monday 9 November and is expected to take approximately six weeks to complete.

Our work area will be located on Union Street and Gordon Street near Glasgow Central Station. Pedestrian access to the station will be maintained at all times, pedestrians will be able to walk safely past our work and businesses in the area will remain open as usual throughout the project. All motorists including taxis will also be able to travel as normal, however a lane restriction will be in place in Union Street to allow our engineers to work safely.

The work will be carried out in three phases:

Phase 1 – Two weeks

  • 85-95 Union Street

Phase 2 – Two weeks

  • 95-115 Union Street

Phase 3 – Two weeks

  • 115 Union Street to 71 Gordon Street

Throughout every phase of the project, we'll maintain safe access for pedestrians, motorists and local businesses.

We appreciate the patience and understanding of local businesses, residents and visitors while we complete this important work to support the area's continued recovery.
