Reigate, A217 Reigate Hill

We're preparing to carry out essential gas network upgrades in the A217 Reigate Hill area.

This work will ensure nearby properties continue to receive a safe and reliable gas supply for many years to come. It's part of a 30-year programme to replace our old metal mains, reaching the end of their useful lives, with new plastic pipe.

Our work along the A217

  • Our gas network upgrades will start on Monday 21 July
  • This work is expected to last approximately four weeks
  • For safety, the A217 will be closed to vehicles heading southbound

We'll be replacing our old pipes along a section of A217 Reigate Hill from Monday 21 July. Our work is expected to take four weeks to complete.

During this time, and to ensure everyone's safety, A217 Reigate Hill will be closed to southbound motorists between its junctions with Brokes Road and Birkheads Road.

Affected motorists should follow the signed diversion route via Raglan Road. Light vehicles should then continue via Croydon Road and Rushworth Road, while HGVs must follow a separate diversion route via A242, A23, and A25.

A map outlining our closure area, plus the diversion routes in place, can be found below.

We recognise roadworks can be frustrating, and we're sorry for any inconvenience this essential work may cause. However, the new plastic pipe has a lifespan of 80 years, which means when the work is complete, nearby residents and businesses will be able to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable gas supply long into the future.
