Working to keep you safe and warm

What we're doing

We'll be replacing our old metal pipes in phases along A26 London Road. This is part of our 30-year programme of work to replace our old mains, reaching the end of their useful lives, with new, reliable plastic pipe.

When we're working

Our work will start on Monday 12 January and this project is expected to last approximately six weeks.

Where we'll be working

Our engineers will be upgrading our network along A26 London Road between its junctions with Western Road and Meadow Road.

To ensure everyone's safety while we complete this work, we need to:

  • Install temporary traffic lights on A26 London Road around our site. We'll be manually controlling these lights between 7am and 7pm on weekdays, 8am and 6pm on Saturdays, and 9am and 5pm on Sundays, to help minimise disruption on this busy route.
  • Western Road will be closed to motorists at its junction with A26 London Road from Monday 12 January for approximately three weeks.
  • The Meadow Road junction will be shut to motorists from Monday 2 February for approximately three weeks.

Signed diversions will be in place for road users affected by the closures. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses.

All businesses will remain open as usual during this work.

We understand roadworks can be frustrating. However, this work is essential to ensuring nearby properties continue to receive a safe and reliable supply of gas.
