Our existing energy connections

Ready to get connected?

Find out how to connect your green gas to our network. Our comprehensive end-to-end guide explains how the process works.

The gas network in Britain reaches over 80% of homes and we can carry green gases like biomethane through our existing infrastructure. All we need to do is connect to production sites and then more renewable energy will be transported around our network in place of fossil fuels.

Green gas is a clean fuel with a big role to play in helping us achieve our net zero future vision. It can be used in all traditional gas applications – cooking, heating, industry, power and transport.

We're enabling new connections to our gas network by allowing green gas producers to inject their renewable energy from their site directly into our pipes, to help heat and power nearby properties.

We want to make it as simple as we can for production sites to connect to our network. We've been pioneering the green gas industry for several years now. We injected the first green gas into the UK gas distribution network at Didcot, in Oxfordshire, and we are a leading partner in the UK’s first commercial biomethane plant at Rainbarrow Farm in Dorset.
