Working to keep you safe and warm

SGN are upgrading the gas network in the Balgillo Road area of Broughty Ferry, Dundee, to help ensure the local community continues to receive a safe and reliable gas supply for many years to come.

What we will be doing

Our work involves replacing old metal gas mains and service pipes with new plastic pipes. These are more durable and can last for up to 80 years, reducing the likelihood of gas leaks and the need for future repairs.

We’ll be replacing approximately 180 metres of six-inch gas main because of the condition of the existing pipe and the number of gas escapes reported in the area.

When we'll be working

Work is scheduled to begin on 19 August and is expected to take approximately five weeks to complete.

Work is scheduled to begin on 19 August and is expected to take approximately five weeks to complete.

To allow our engineers to carry out the work safely, Balgillo Road will be closed between numbers 67 and 147, including the junction with Forthill Road.

Local access will be maintained throughout the project, and a signed diversion route will be in place.

We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused and thank residents, businesses and road users for their patience while we complete this essential upgrade.
