From Monday 30 March until the end of August, our engineers will be carrying out a programme of work to replace the gas mains in Lower Street and Tanners Lane in Haslemere. These works are essential to ensure we can avoid disruptive gas leaks in the future and continue to maintain a safe and efficient gas supply to residents, businesses, and the local community.
Due to the location of the gas pipes in the road, for everyone’s safety, we’ll need to have temporary traffic lights and road closures in place. We have planned these works as follows:
Phase one: from Monday from 30 March for approximately 14 weeks
We will be working in Lower Street from the junction of Kings Road to the junction of Tanners Lane.
Temporary traffic lights will be in use during this phase for everyone's safety.
Road closures: Kings Road and Longdene Road – from Monday 30 March for approximately five weeks
Due to the location of the gas main on Lower Street, it will be necessary to close Kings Road and Longdene Road at the junction with Lower Street whilst we carry out the first section of mains replacement.
Phase two: from Monday 8 June for approximately 12 weeks
We’ll be working along Tanner Street from the junction of Lower Street to the junction of Bridge Street.
A rolling road closure will be in place during this phase for everyone's safety around our work area.
Important information
Road closures will mean:
- No through vehicle access past the closure in either direction – signed diversion routes will be in place
- Parking restrictions will be in place as works progress along the road
- Vehicle access to properties within the closures will be maintained – our site team will keep affected residents informed of access arrangements
- Bus routes may be affected – we advise passengers to contact their service providers for the latest updates
- Access to the Tanners Road car park will be maintained – direction of access will change as works progress along the road
We understand how disruptive our work may be for the local community. We assure you we’ll be doing everything we can to complete these works as quickly and safely as possible.
