We're carrying out essential gas network upgrades in the Victoria Road area. This work will ensure a continued safe and reliable supply of gas is delivered to Mitcham homes and businesses.
Working to keep you safe and warm
What we're doing
We'll be replacing our old metal pipes in the Victoria Road area. This is part of our 30-year programme of work to replace our old mains, reaching the end of their useful lives, with new, reliable plastic pipe.
When we're working
Our work will start on Monday 5 January. It will be carried out in phases over approximately seven weeks.
Where we'll be working
Our engineers will be replacing our old metal mains in the following roads. We'll need to install some temporary traffic measures around our sites to ensure everyone's safety.
- Hawkes Road will be closed to motorists between property number 2 and its junction with Wilson Avenue. This work will start on Monday 5 January and last approximately three weeks.
- We'll start work in Wilson Avenue on Monday 12 January. Our engineers will be working between property number 35 and Victoria Road for approximately four weeks. Wilson Avenue will be shut around our work area.
- From Monday 19 January, we'll be upgrading our network along Victoria Road with two-way temporary traffic lights in place around our site. This phase of work is expected to last around three weeks.
- Alexandra Road will be closed to motorists between property number 39 and its junction with Victoria Road. This work will start on Monday 26 January and last approximately four weeks.
We understand roadworks can be frustrating. However, this work is essential to ensuring nearby properties continue to receive a safe and reliable supply of gas.
