We're preparing to carry out essential gas network upgrades in Wadhurst. This work will ensure a continued safe and reliable supply of gas is delivered to nearby homes and businesses.
Working to keep you safe and warm
What we're doing
We'll be replacing our old metal pipes as part of our 30-year programme of work to upgrade our old mains, reaching the end of their useful lives.
When we're working
Our work will start on Thursday 23 July and be carried out in two phases to help minimise disruption. This project is expected to last approximately six months.
Where we'll be working
Phase one
- We'll start work along Cousley Wood Road on Thu 23 Jul.
- This phase of work is expected to finish by Mon 31 Aug.
- Our engineers will be upgrading our network between its junction with Newbury Lane and opposite Copstone Cottage.
- Cousley Wood Road will be shut in sections as we progress, starting at the Newbury Lane end.
- Newbury Lane will be closed to motorists for the duration of phase one.
- Monks Lane will be closed when we reach this junction.
Phase two
- From Tue 1 Sep, our engineers will be working in Newbury Lane.
- We'll be working between Claremont and 1 Newbury Cottages.
- The road will remain closed until Mon 21 Sep.
Signed diversions will be in place for affected road users.
Local bus routes will be affected. Please check with your operator for up-to-date service information and visit https://www.eastsussex.gov.uk/roads-transport/public/flexibus for information on bookable ride shares.
We understand roadworks can be frustrating. We'll be doing everything we can to minimise disruption while we complete this essential work.
