I appreciate getting practical advice in a kind and thoughtful way. Being treated as a human being not just someone with financial struggles at this moment in time. Periodically getting updates and someone checking in to see how things are.

Why we’re working together
Maximising household income is a key to lifting households out of fuel poverty. However, in the UK, the total amount of unclaimed benefits has reached £22.7 billion per year.
In collaboration with Britain’s three other gas networks, we’ve partnered with IE Hub on its free online tool to help financially vulnerable households manage their money, identify unclaimed benefits and gain access to social energy tariffs.
Through our partnership, we’re increasing awareness of the tool and ensuring households across Britain can access this free service. We’re also expanding the scope of the self-serve tool to include information on the Priority Services Register and carbon monoxide safety, helping households to use energy safely, affordably and efficiently.
Project objectives
- Supporting households nationwide with budgeting, income maximisation and debt advice
- Identifying and helping households who are entitled to unclaimed benefits
- Raising awareness of the Priority Services Register and supporting households to sign up
- Raising awareness of carbon monoxide safety
How we’re working together
Budgeting and income maximisation support
The free online IE Hub tool helps households with budgeting, income maximisation and debt advice. Households can build their budget on the platform and easily share it with the companies they owe money, such as personal loan companies or energy companies. With all the budget information these organisations need saved in the online tool, the companies can work with households to find affordable solutions to managing debts.
By sharing their financial circumstances, the tool will also alert the household if they’re eligible for an additional income, such as benefits, discretionary payments, grants, and water and telecoms social tariffs .
As well as being able to create and understand their household budget, the IE Hub tool signposts households to specialised support if they feel they need further information or advice about a particular topic or company they owe debt.
As part of our programme, IE Hub set out to reach 1.4 million households through an email and social media campaign to raise awareness of the tool, as well as share information about carbon monoxide safety and the benefits of joining the PSR.
