We are shortly starting work to upgrade the gas network in the Foxcombe Road area of Oxford. The work, which will be ongoing for approximately sixteen weeks, involves replacing old, metal pipes with new longer lasting plastic ones to ensure local homes and businesses continue to receive a reliable gas supply.
A virtual drop-in will be held on 21 July from 4pm – 6pm to provide an opportunity to ask our project managers questions about the project. Further details here:
Due to the location of the gas pipes in the roads, and for everyone’s safety, the following traffic management will be in place:
Foxcombe Road
From 24 July - 9 September, we will be replacing the gas pipe in Foxcombe Road. To ensure the safety of everyone around the work site, we will need to install temporary multi-way lights to allow the traffic to pass our worksite.
We will need to close the road from 9 September for approximately 10 weeks to complete the work.
A diversion will be in place via Hinksey Hill - Southern by Pass (A34) - A420 - B4017 - Lamborough Hill - Fox Lane - Foxcombe Road, and access will be maintained for residents and businesses.
Hinksey Hill
Work will start in Hinksey Hill in February 2026 and will be ongoing until May. The road will be closed from the junction of Chiswell Lane to outside Highfield House.
We appreciate how disruptive road closures are for residents and road users. Our engineers are committed to doing everything they can to complete these works as quickly and as safely as possible.

We’re sorry for the inconvenience this work will cause, and thank local people for their patience and understanding.
