We're carrying out essential gas network upgrades in the Garlinge High Street area.
This work will ensure nearby properties continue to receive a safe and reliable gas supply for many years to come. It's part of a 30-year programme to replace our old metal mains, reaching the end of their useful lives, with new plastic pipe.
Our work started on Monday 14 April and we're making good progress so far. All being well, this project will be finished ahead of our scheduled end date of Friday 4 July.
To ensure everyone's safety, High Street will be closed to motorists around our site. The closure will move as our work area progresses.
Update - Friday 25 April
We've replaced our old pipes between High Street's junction with Canterbury Road to Crow Hill Road.
Our engineers are preparing to upgrade our network past its junction with Dent de Lion Road and continue until we reach property number 169 on High Street.
Signed diversions are in place for affected motorists.
Compensation may be available to small businesses affected by our work on High Street. Click here to see if your business is eligible for compensation and details of how to apply.
We'll be providing regular updates on the progress of our gas network upgrades. Please continue to check this page for the latest information.
We recognise roadworks can be frustrating, and we're sorry for any inconvenience this essential work may cause. However, the new plastic pipe has a lifespan of 80 years, which means when the work is complete, nearby residents and businesses will be able to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable gas supply long into the future.
