We’re upgrading our gas network in Windygates Road, Leven.
Our teams our replacing sections of the old metallic gas main in Windygates Road with new modern plastic pipe to ensure a safe reliable gas supply for many years to come.
The project began following emergency repairs where our investigations revealed that the gas mains were reaching the end of their useful lives. Replacing them now will reduce the overall disruption caused by future repairs.
Update: Friday 05 December 2025
The final phase of our project to upgrade the gas network in Leven is due to begin. The work in Windygates Road will ensure local homes and businesses continue to receive a safe and reliable gas supply for years to come.
Works will start on Sunday, 18 January and last for approximately six weeks, completing by 01 March.
To carry this work out safely, we’ll need to put traffic management in place, including road closures at Scoonie Roundabout:
- Sillerhole Road is closed at its junction with the Scoonie roundabout with a diversion route in place along Durie Steet, Promenade, Riverside Road and Glenlyon Road.
- Scoonie Road is closed at its junction with the Scoonie roundabout with a diversion route in place along Holly Road and Kennoway Road.
- Two-way traffic lights will be in place along Scoonie Brie and Windygates Road, due to a lane closure along Scoonie Roundabout.
We appreciate that work in this area is sensitive and roadworks can be frustrating; we recognise this and are doing everything we can to get this essential work done as quickly and as safely as possible.
We’d like to thank everyone affected for your patience, understanding and support as we work to improve the energy infrastructure in Leven. We will keep people updated of our progress here.
