From Monday 2 June through to 18 August our contractors, FPF Utilities, will be carrying out gas main replacement work on both St Thomas’s Road and Grove Road in Gosport.
These essential works will involve replacing old metal gas pipes with new, longer-lasting plastic ones to ensure we can continue to provide a safe and efficient gas supply and help avoid disruptive gas leaks in the future.
Due to the location of the pipes in the road, various traffic management measures will be in place. To aid the local community, we have planned these works in two phases as follows:
Phase one - St Thomas’s Road, Gosport
From Monday 2 June to Friday 13 June, the road will be closed between the junctions of Grove Road and Heritage Way. This closure will mean:
- No through vehicle access along St Thomas’s Road, past the closure in either direction
- Vehicle access to properties and side roads within the closure will be maintained – our site team will keep residents informed of access arrangements
- The junction of Priory Road and St Thomas’s Road will be closed, and access in and out will be via Green Lane
Phase two - Grove Road, Gosport
From Monday 16 June to Monday 18 August a one-way northbound directional road closure will be in place.
We’ll be working on the northbound carriageway on Grove Road, between the junctions of St Thomas’s Road to outside St John’s CE Primary School. A northbound directional closure will be in place between these junctions. This closure will mean:
- No traffic heading northbound between these junctions – southbound will remain unaffected
- No left turn out of Reeds Road onto Grove Road
- Vehicle access to properties within the closure will be maintained via the southbound direction
- Vehicle access to St John's School will be maintained. Vehicles will be able to access northbound from San Diego Road up to the school – there will be no through access northbound along Grove Road past the school.
Throughout both phases:
- Bin collection days - arrangements will remain unchanged unless you hear otherwise from your service provider.
- Bus routes will be affected – we advise passengers to contact their service provider for the latest changes to service.
We appreciate our work, and necessary traffic management can be disruptive for local road users, and we’d like to reassure the local community that our team will be doing all they can to complete these works as safely and as quickly as possible.
If you have any specific questions regarding these works, please contact our customer service team at customer@sgn.co.uk.
We’re sorry for the inconvenience this work will cause, and thank local people for their patience and understanding.
