Worthing, Victoria Road

We’re working in the Victoria Road area of Worthing to upgrade the gas network. This work is crucial to keep the gas flowing safely to homes and businesses in the area for years to come.

Due to the location of the pipe in the road and for everyone’s safety, we will need to have road closures and traffic management measures in place. We will carry this work out in two phases.

Phase one will begin on Victoria Road on Monday 27 October and last for 14 weeks. This will include:

From Monday 27 October to Monday 10 November

Two-way traffic lights on Victoria Road. We have planned these lights to allow for the Hemiko scheme to complete their works on Richmond Road and to allow buses access along Victoria Road to the train station.

From Monday 10 November for 12 Weeks

Road closure on Victoria Road from the junction of Richmond Road to the junction of Teville Road.

From Monday 24th November for 3 weeks

Three-way temporary traffic lights on Richmond Road to allow for connection work within junction – Victoria Road will remain closed during this phase.

The road closures will mean:

  • No through vehicle access along Victoria Road between Teville Road and Richmond Road
  • Resident/vehicle access to properties on Victoria Road will be maintained, access arrangements will change as works progress along the road. We will keep residents informed of arrangements.
  • Bin collection days will remain unchanged unless you hear otherwise from your service provider

Phase two will begin on Teville Road on Monday 12 January for 14 weeks. This will include:

  • Section 1 – Teville Road will be closed to through traffic from junction of Tarring Road/roundabout to junction of Victoria Road.
  • Section 2 – Teville Road will be closed to through traffic past the junction of Victoria Road to the junction of Oxford Road
  • Section 3 – Teville Road will be closed from past Oxford Road to the roundabout joining the A24

These closures will mean

  • No through vehicle access along Teville Road between the A24 roundabout and Tarring Road Roundabout
  • Vehicle access to properties and businesses will be maintained via signed diversion routes and local access arrangements in place as access will change as works progress – residents and businesses affected will be kept informed about these arrangements
  • Bin collection days will remain unchanged, unless you are informed otherwise by your service provider

Bus routes will be disrupted with limited service at times – we’d advise passengers to contact their service provider for the latest updates.
